Dickie Dee ice cream parlor Athens

I’m always up for trying new ice cream shops in Athens. So, I was very excited to spot Dickie Dee when it opened last year. Did I mention that it’s located very close to my office? What sets it apart from other ice cream parlors in Athens is that it offers soft-serve ice cream. It is inspired by the namesake Canadian company which operated until 2002.

Dickie Dee menu

Dickie Dee started with 4 ice cream flavors:  fior di latte, pistachio, rosewater, dark vegan chocolate. This year they added salted caramel, vegan strawberry, and mango cream. You have many options on how to eat your ice cream. You can have it on a cup or a cone, alone or with toppings. They offer lots of topping options and sauces. For example small chocolate balls, caramel popcorn, small meringues, nuts and more. The cone particularly has the option to be served with candy floss, making it look very dreamy.  Pricewise the ice cream variations are 3 to 5€.  Extra toppings are an extra 50 cents. The menu has combinations like Strawberry or Caramel Pavlova and Chocolate brownie cup.  Those are the Dickie cups which are priced at 5€.

Dickie Dee keeps adding cups suggestions and other desserts to their menu. The desserts are priced at 4-5€. Adding a scoop of ice cream will set you back an extra 1€. The best way to keep up with their offerings is by checking out their Facebook or Instagram pages. Of course, the best inspiration on what to get will strike you once you get there in person. Over these two years, I’ve tried a couple of combinations of flavors and toppings. I concluded the pistachio flavor with salted caramel sauce is the best for me. I’ve tried it with caramel popcorns and meringues as well.

Location

You will find Dickie Dee on Voulis street off the corner of Mitropoleos street. It’s a small place with millennial pink walls and a lovely neon light sign. It has a couple of tables and barstools, but you can take ice cream and leave though. The parlor’s central location makes it an ideal post-shopping spot. Whenever I’m dining in the area I always like to stop there for ice cream on my way home.

Have you tried Dickie Dee’s ice cream? If not, definitely add it to your list!
