If youâve been following me for a while youâve noticed that I havenât reviewed a restaurant in years. I plan to resume writing such reviews. What Iâm changing this time is that Iâm going to write about restaurants that I keep returning to. Hasika Rethymno is a restaurant that we visited for the first time back in 2019. We return to this place every time we visit the city, which is twice a year.

Hasikaâs tagline is âGreece in bites”. Their menu doesnât have the typical form of salads- appetizers-main courses. It is divided by ingredients: vegetables/ fish/ meat. In each category the first dishes on the list are appetizers. As you go down the list there are the main dishes.

Over the years Iâve tried many dishes but last summer I found my absolute favorite: octopus moussaka. It sounds like a strange combination of octopus with eggplant (cream). Even so, it was absolutely delicious. It had potato chips on top and I was sold.
Now lets talk about the wine list. When I’m visiting Crete, I always go for local wines. In Hasika I discovered 2 Faraggia white wine by Miliarakis Winery. The varieties used for this wine are Thrapsathiri and Spinas Muscat. It is my favorite wine currently. All in all, Hasika is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal.Â
Practical information: Hasika Rethymno is located on 15, Agias Varvaras street. We usually donât book a table and always find a place. If you want to book though you can call at 2831021014. You can find more information (and photos) on the restaurant on their Facebook page.
