two tables with chairs and portraits on the wall

A few years ago, I didn’t even know where Skoufou street is. But new restaurants (small but trendy) started popping up there. The latest addition (and current favorite) is Spitjack. As with most of my discoveries, I found about Spitjack through social media and quickly added it on my “to visit” list.

The food

Spitjack is a rotisserie restaurant. It offers juicy meats roasted on the spit. One of the things I love in this restaurant is its minimal menu: 4 types of meat (duck, chicken, pork, beef), 4 sauces, 4 sides, 4 salads. On the photo above you can see the duck combined with the Jack Daniels sauce.

The menu also includes rice bowls (photo above) and desserts. It is easy to decide what you want to eat, and I appreciate that. So far we have dined there twice. There are going to be more visits for sure!

Spitjack Rotisserie Athens noodle salad

The first time we went for the duck and the chicken. As for sides/salads we got corn on the cob and noodle salad (photo above). Let me tell you that duck is the star of the menu. It is delicious on its own but paired with the sauce it becomes even better! The chicken was pretty good too, but the duck… can’t stop thinking of the duck! Spitjack Rotisserie rekindled my love for eating duck. I hadn’t eaten duck since the late nineties when Chinese restaurants were pretty popular.

On our second visit, we both got duck as the main course (see photo above). As a starter, we got a jasmine rice bowl with duck (notice a pattern here?). We also got a sweet potato salad as a side.

The interior

Now let’s talk about interiors. You know me, I judge places by their interiors…  The walls are full of portraits of famous people. Think Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Prince William, and Kate Middleton. On a closer look, all those photos are Photoshopped. Tattoos were added making those portraits edgier.

The facade of the restaurant is pretty too! It is sleek and black and has fancy lettering on the windows.

Essential information: You will find Spitjack on 10, Skoufou street near Syntagma square. As I said above, Spitjack is small, so booking a table is advisable. You can find more details about the restaurant on their website.
