Where to Eat in Nicosia

After laying out the best that Nicosia has for you to explore, let’s get on with the food options, shall we? Before getting on with my recommendations, I must write a disclaimer. You won’t find traditional Cypriot cuisine on the list. Sure, one of them (Kath’odon) has more traditional dishes. The other ones are what one would call fusion and modern!

Let’s start with the restaurants in Nicosia located inside the walls.

D.O.T. restaurant

Located near Famagusta Gate, this DOT restaurant is ideal for brunch and coffee. It’s very bright and decorated with antiques such as old telephones and radios. Still, it gives off a modern vibe. I had pancakes with Nutella and biscuit crumbs. Originally the included banana too, but as I don’t eat bananas I skipped them!

Essential Information: The restaurant’s address is 6A Athinas Str. 1016 Nicosia. More information can be found on their Facebook page.

Kath’ Odon

This restaurant is located at the end of Ledras street near the opening towards the Turkish side. You can characterize it as kitsch. The walls are full of photos and clippings. The food is very tasty, and I loved the grilled halloumi cheese. In the evenings there is live music too.

Essential Information: The restaurant’s address is 62D Ledras Str, 1011 Nicosia. More information can be found on their Facebook page.

Pieto

Pieto cafe, Ledras street, Nicosia

I spotted this cute café on the first night out in Nicosia. You know me, I have an eye for quirky design. I stopped by during my last day in the city for a refreshing lemonade. It’s full of retro and vintage furniture and details. I loved that green door and the outdoor area (which is part of an arcade).

Essential Information: The cafe’s address is 207 Ledras str., 1011 Nicosia

Skinny Fox and D.O.T are my favorite restaurants in Nicosia (from the ones I’ve visited). In Skinny Fox Nicosia, I loved the mysterious interiors. I know that it’s far stretched, but it reminded me of the ambiance of Budakkan in New York. My husband got a risotto again (he’s trying to be an expert on the mushroom risotto). I got the bao buns with duck. It is actually an appetizer, but it was fine as a main dish for me. For dessert, we got a deconstructed Pavlova. It looked very pretty to eat, but you know we had to eat it!!

Essential Information: Skinny Fox’ Nicosia address is 12 Menandrou str. 1066. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
