Happy July! June passed by and I did so many things! Checked out new (for me) places in Athens, attended events and traveled to Syros! Since I’m really behind my posting (I have a backlog of photos and things to write about since September 2017!) I decided to introduce a monthly or bi-monthly diary style post, where I’ll go over my whereabouts during that month (or months). You can always follow me on Instagram to keep up to date with the beautiful places I visit!
Restaurants & Cafes I visited
This month I revisited a favorite restaurant of mine: To Mavro Provato (= the black sheep). Over 5 years ago I visited the restaurant in Pagrati, but now they have another one in Melissia too. Since I live close to the latter, I checked it out too. It was as delicious as I remember!
Downtown I checked out 2 new places: Milk & Cookies and Spitjack. Milk & Cookies serves intricate milkshakes and (yes you’ve guessed it) cookies! Most milkshakes where vanilla flavored to my disappointment. I got the only chocolate one I spotted on the menu. It was pretty good and I loved the presentation. I want to go about for the cookies!
Spitjack is a new cute restaurant on Skoufou street. It serves rotisserie chicken, duck, and pork. I plan to do a proper review of the place, but for now, I can tell you that I liked it! After dining at Spitjack I stopped by Cookie Land for ice cream.
To burn all those calories from lunch and dessert I walked to my car passing by National Garden (an overlooked oasis in downtown Athens).
Events I attended
Swarovski presented its Fall-Winter collection called Crystal Tales. What can I say I like shiny objects. Swarovski makes some killer statement necklaces. Since I cannot afford those, I opt for more dainty pieces like the one I’m wearing in this post.
A few days after the Swarovksi event, Hendricks Gin celebrated World Cucumber Day on June 14th. I admit that when I got the invitation I thought that someone was trolling me, but no. Also if you don’t know Hendricks Gin just go to Pinterest and type “bar cart inspiration”. I’ve sure kept many of those pins, I’ve bought a bar cart and now I have to buy a bottle of Hendricks!
The event took place at Uberness, which started off as a pop-up restaurant by chef Vasilis Kalidis. Everything on the menu included pickled cucumber that night (wonder why). I’d like to return and taste Uberness’ main menu one day.
More photos from both events can be found on my Instagram Highlights under “Events”.
Places I traveled
I spent 24hrs in Syros for work. I spent some time exploring the city of Ermoupolis which is the main city on the island. It is also the administrative center of the Cyclades. You know that group of islands which includes Mykonos, Santorini, Naxos, and Amorgos among others.

Beauty products I loved
This month I finished many beauty products! So the shot above is of my empties. I sure blog about travel and food, but I follow many beauty bloggers and vloggers and always take care of my skin. The standout product of the bunch is probably Caudalie’s Premier Cru Serum (c/o). It contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and antioxidants among others. The corresponding face cream (c/o) was nice too, as it contains peptides. The particular version was to rich for me though. I finished up Caudalie’s The de Vignes shower gel (c/o) as well and I’ve repurchased it! My husband and I love the scent so much, so this one will be our shower gel. It is also sulfates-free which is always a bonus. Another beloved product I finished was Mizon’s Acence blemish out pink spot. This is the BEST product I’ve found that makes those under the chin blemishes that never come to a head dissapear. You need to apply it every night though and persevere. But it’s worth the try. I just got my second bottle and I’m so happy!
How was June for you?
