A day trip in Salem

Salem is largely associated with the witch trials which took part in the late 17th century. The ironic thing is that the city actually thrives on the story of those witches, especially in October as “haunted happenings” are taking place all over the city. There are also a couple of museums dedicated to witches and not to mention that I came across a few psychics, palm readers, witchcraft stores!   I arrived in Salem by train and as I was walking down Washington street and then turning left at Essex, I was really not impressed by the city and I…

Exploring Boston: Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill is one of the first places in Boston that I explored and I must admit the coziest one. It’s full of 19th century buildings, nice little squares and antique shops on Charles street. As my guide (Top 10 Boston) says this area screams “old money”, so my fellow Athenians could compare this are with Kolonaki. Minus the nightlife and the abundance of cafes and restaurants which Beacon Hill (compared to Kolonaki) doesn’t have. Charles street is actually the only street in the area with some serious commercial activity as it’s  full of antique shops, cafes and restaurants (spotted…

5 Ways to Wear Grey Jeans

A few years ago I didn’t even own a pair of grey jeans, relying only my trusty blue ones and the occasional black pair! But as I rummages the sales stand in Zara one day I found a pair of skinny jeans in my size, realized that I look good in them and got them! Since then I styled them in various ways and on various occasions and I can tell you one thing: it’s like wearing a pair of blue jeans! They can be styled with almost every color! Which Colors Look Best With Grey Yellow and grey is…

Avli Restaurant, Rethymno

So, I’m taking a small break from showing you my whereabouts in Boston, to travel a little back in time to my summer vacations and introduce you to a little gem… If you’re visiting Rethymno, then Avli restaurant, should be on your “to visit” list. Located in a picturesque cobblestone, bougainvillea adorned little street in the Old Town, this restaurant offers a mix of traditional Cretan dishes, as well as “reformed” Cretan dishes as well (what I call “with a twist”). Avli in Greek means yard and that exactly is the main feature of the restaurant: a nice little yard adorned with…

Afternoon Stroll in Commonwealth Avenue

How could I possibly ignore the beauty of Commonwealth Avenue and not shoot an outfit post there? Yesterday was a lovely day and after enjoying brunch (which has almost become an institution here on Sundays) in Harvard Square, we ventured out in Boston for some photo shooting! If you’re a regular here, you probably seen these grey jeans many times. What can I say?! It’s my favorite pair of trousers! It’s so versatile and can be dressed up or down easily! The sweater though is a new addition. And being in the US it comes from a brand that even…

Exploring Boston: Back Bay

So, the time has come for me to share with you my photos of the different Boston neighborhoods as I explore them one by one! Today’s stop: the Back Bay! This neighborhood is ideal for house stalking! Really! It has so many nice buildings, with beautiful doors and exquisite details. Even if I didn’t know already that it’s expensive to live here I would have guessed it from the look of the buildings! Boston Public Garden or Charles Esplanade are good starting points for a exploration walk. For me the end point is always The Prudential Center, for the practical…

Galini Tavern, Plakias Crete

I maybe far away from Greece, but there are still some posts and photos from the past that I’m going to share here on the blog like this basic but wonderful tavern I visited while vacationing in Crete.  It might not be trendy and stylish as the places I usually feature in my blogs, but it has really great food! Ideal after spending the morning (or afternoon) on the beach! Galini Tavern is located in a small and picturesque bay called Souda, near to Plakias village/beach in southern Crete (not to be confused with Souda near Chania, also in Crete). Galini translates…
