Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles

As a Frank Gehry fan, I couldn’t miss seeing the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles! We parked nearby and started our walk around Downtown LA from this place. But first, we walked around the building, which spans almost 4 acres, took some “outfit” photos and enjoyed the Blue Ribbon garden and this exquisite rose shaped fountain. The fountain is made up from broken up Delft porcelain and is dedicated to Lillian Disney, Walt’s wife, who pledged a $50 million gift towards the construction of a new concert hall. The concert hall was inaugurated in 2004 and is the home…

12 Fun Things I Did in Los Angeles

California was high on my travel wishlist, probably because of all the films and series I’ve watched that take place there. Well I grew up watching Beverly Hills 90210 (the original one not the remake) after all! And then there is San Francisco and Golden Gate bridge and not to mention Pacific Coast Highway 1, which I discovered through blogs and Pinterest (the latter one is definitely a “thing” nowadays for travel planning along with Instagram). Today I’m really proud and excited to say that I’ve been there and done that and I really really liked the experience! I have…

We have every specialty you can think of: civil engineers, architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, rural and surveying engineers…we missed out on chemical engineers, but you get the point. And me? Oh I’m the black sheep…I studied Business Administration with and MSc on IT&Management and a part-time course in Fashion Design, just because… When I was a kid and we travelled in Europe I got to see many engineering/construction projects like the Øresund Link between Denmark and Sweden or the glass dome of the…

3 restaurants in NYC worth visiting

New York City is one of the few cities, where I had a problem finding a decent restaurant. Of course that was why I was looking in all the wrong places like Times Square and Pier 17. The good thing was, that the extremely bubbly tour guide on the doubledecker bus to Brooklyn gave us the best tip: head to Hell’s Kitchen. Long story short I never made it to Hell’s Kitchen, but I found out Restaurant Row (aka W46th street) with lots of options that never disappoint (tried 2 different restaurants, both very good). During my last visit in…

A quick guide to Brighton

Today’s post is a “break” from the previous food related ones! It’s also a break from featuring places and cities in North America (can’t help it since I’m stationed in Boston). It is about a city that although I’ve visited only once, is a favorite of mine! Read on to see my favorite spots and must-dos in Brighton! Visiting Brighton was on my list for a long time! Every time I visited my friends in London and proposed a trip to Brighton they said that they’ve been there and weren’t impressed! I mean how that was even possible?!? Why so much fuss about…

Grandma’s Baklava Recipe

Back in November I baked baklava for the first time. I was anxious about the outcome because not only it was my first attempt, but also I’m not really good with making syrup (an essential part of the baklava). Nevertheless I was eager to give it a try and take it along to my friends in Montreal. You see they had tasted my grandmother’s baklava last summer and loved it! This weekend I baked another baklava and was definitely more confident than the first time. I came to realize that there’s no big deal after all, because there is no…
