So, I’m taking a small break from showing you my whereabouts in Boston, to travel a little back in time to my summer vacations and introduce you to a little gem… If you’re visiting Rethymno, then Avli restaurant, should be on your “to visit” list. Parasties Restaurant, Heraklion

During my Easter vacations in Heraklion, I had the opportunity to dine in Parasties restaurant (the t is silent). Parasties is a Greek/Cretan cuisine restaurant, but it doesn’t look like your typical taverna. The interiors are a bit funky and I particularly liked the tiled wall behind a table for large parties. The food is really good and it’s not frilly. It has a large selection of appetizers and meat dishes. Of course we tried out mostly meat dishes like steak and lamb chops, as well as some side dishes such as fried potatoes, roasted mushrooms and omelette with spinach….
