The one time I celebrated Queen’s Day in Amsterdam

I happened to visit Amsterdam in 2008 while the Queen’s Day (now King’s Day since King Willem-Alexander was crowned last year) and that was an experience. Although on the actual day we visited the Museums (they were open) and strolled around the city, we made sure to blend in with the crowd. You see on that day, everyone in Amsterdam wears orange so as to show their pride for the Dutch Royal Family, the House of Orange Nassau. As you will see I chose a pair of huge orange sunglasses (that I keep to this day) and an orange flower garland…

A quick guide to Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Do you have a travel “bucket” list? You know, the kind of list where you mentally write down the places you want to visit in your life. I don’t exactly have such a list, but there are a few places that I’d love to visit like Japan and California. One thing’s for sure: the Canary Islands weren’t on this list. But when the opportunity arose to visit one of them I hopped on board. I’m exaggerating a bit here, as I only visited one island, that being Lanzarote. Guildford, Surrey

It seems that I have an unwritten pact with myself to visit as many British towns and villages as possible. It all started actually back in 2005 when I set my foot in Lancaster for my masters degree. Anyways…one of the latest additions on the list is Guildford in Surrey, which I visited in November during my latest trip in the country. On the day we…

Hyde Park, London

Coming from a city with no big parks and definitely no squirrels, I’m always excited to walk on parks like the Hyde Park in London. It’s a great place to unwind while sightseeing in the city. It would be ideal to visit the park during spring when the flowers are blooming, but I find it equally beautiful during the fall. A few of my favorite places within the park are the Serpentine and the Long Water, the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain, which is pretty cool I dare say and The Lido, the perfect spot for a light lunch…

4 day itinerary in London

I admit that to this day, London is the city I’ve visited more times, except for Athens, which is my home town. This month I visited the British capital for the 14th time in my life so far. If you follow me on Instagram you surely got a glimpse from my whereabouts in London, but here is a more “complete” itinerary of the things I’ve seen and done in 4 days (ideal for first timers as well). Day 1 The first day started with the “classics”: Strolling by the Houses of Parliament, snapping a photo with London Eye (which for the record I’ve…
