Peskesi restaurant, Heraklion

Peskesi restaurant is undoubtfully the new it-place in Heraklion. I visited it on my mother-in-law recommendation but it keeps popping up everywhere. I read about it on Aegean airlines magazine, I’ve seen it on my Facebook and Instagram feeds. But popularity isn’t the reason why you should visit it. You should visit it, because it’s a very good restaurant! About Peskesi restaurant   Peskesi focuses on the farm-to-table philosophy. The family behind Peskesi owns a farm in the area of Hersonissos. Pepe Nero, Herakleion

I had spotted Pepe Nero back in 2012 and wanted to visit ever since, as I had passed so many times in front of it! You see I have an affinity for Italian restaurants 🙂 Especially more so if the interior looks nicely put together. So last month I had the opportunity to visit and I wasn’t disappointed! We started off our meal with a salad and an appetizer which featured cold cuts, arugula and Parmesan. Both were delicious, but I was eager to try my pasta as well. I had tagliatelle with mushroom, sausage and white sauce. My friends had risotto…

Parasties Restaurant, Heraklion

During my Easter vacations in Heraklion, I had the opportunity to dine in Parasties restaurant (the t is silent). Parasties is a Greek/Cretan cuisine restaurant, but it doesn’t look like your typical taverna. The interiors are a bit funky and I particularly liked the tiled wall behind a table for large parties. The food is really good and it’s not frilly. It has a large selection of appetizers and meat dishes. Of course we tried out mostly meat dishes like steak and lamb chops, as well as some side dishes such as fried potatoes, roasted mushrooms and omelette with spinach….
