Foodie Guide to Rome, Gelateria di San Crispino

It’s no secret that pizza is my favorite food ever so I was very excited to visit Rome last month! The best pizza in town still escapes me, but I have plenty of suggestions on where to eat in Rome (especially pasta) for you! So let’s move on!

1) Osteria dell Angelo

Osteria dell' Angelo Rome

In just a 10′ walk from the Vatican museums in the Prati neighborhood of Rome, you’ll find Osteria dell Angelo. It’s a place where you’ll come across a lot of locals, rugby decoration and delicious food. I tried the carbonara which was delicious but also eyed some interesting steaks. Keep in mind that the restaurant is closed from 14.30 to 19.30.

Location: Via G. Bettolo, 24-32, 00195 Rome

2) Da Robertino

Da Robertino, Rome Da Robertino, Rome

I came across this restaurant by chance and it ended out to be one of the best restaurants that we dined at in Rome. I went for the saltimbocca alla romana and my husband had pumpkin risotto. For starters we had bruscetta with tomato and basil and prosciutto and artichoke.

Location: Via Panisperna, 231, 00184 Rome

Via Panisperna where Da Robertino is located has other restaurants as well worth checking out!

3) Antico Forno Ai Serpenti

Antico Forno Ai Serpenti, Rome

Upon leaving Da Robertino and turning on via dei Serpenti we came across this bakery and stopped for dessert. We went for their tarts (crostata in Italian). I got one with apricot jam and my husband one with ricotta and chocolate chips.

Location: Via dei Serpenti, 122-123, 00184 Rome

4) Panne e Salame

Located near the ever busy Fontana di Trevi, Panne e Salame is a cozy bakery where you can eat yummy sandwiches with fresh bread, delicious cheese and of course salami. This place was a recommendation from my brother and his girlfriend who loved it during their visit in Rome.

Location: Via Santa Maria in Via, 19, 00187 Rome

5) Gelateria di San Crispino

You’ll come across many ice cream parlors (gelaterias) when visiting Rome. San Crispino was the most recommended one and it didn’t disappoint. I loved their hazelnut and pistachio flavors (see first photo of the blog post)

Locations: Via della Panetteria, 42, 00187 Rome (near Fontana di Trevi) and Piazza della Maddalena, 3, 00186 Rome (near Pantheon)

 6) Panella

Panella is an upscale bakery and deli, with outdoor seating area as well! We tried the white pizza and a couple of pastries. There is also a wide selection of desserts!

Location: Via Merulana, 54, 00185 Rome (near Santa Maria Maggiore)

7) Antica Osteria Rugantino

Antica Osteria Rugantino, Trastevere Rome

This restaurant was recommended to us by our landlady in Rome. The decoration transports you to medieval Rome and I have to say that its borderline kitsch but the food (we had carbonara, pictured above) was delicious, so it’s worth a place on the “where to eat in Rome” list!

Location: Via della Lungaretta, 54, 00153 Trastevere, Rome

8) Ponte e Parione

Ponte e Parione is a small and cozy restaurant behind Piazza Navona. I’ve tried their pizza calzone and loved it!

Location: Via di Santa Maria dell’Anima, 62, 00186 Rome

So here you have it: 8 places where you can eat in Rome, gelato included!
