Winter in Athens | Monastiraki square

This winter has been particularly cold in Athens (for Greek standards!) and it even snowed as you can see in the photo above! It was chilly for walking around Athens, BUT it was a good opportunity to check new (for me) restaurants and cafes and of course revisit old favorites! I’ve also attended a couple of press events that I really enjoyed and I’m sharing my experience with you. So let’s start with my “winter diaries”

Restaurants in Athens

Moorings Vouliagmeni brunch

Back in December I dined at Estrella, which has a vast selection of brunch dishes, from eggs, to pancakes, to omelets! I liked it so much that I went twice! Then by the end of January I brunched at Moorings café/restaurant in Vouliagmeni. Moorings have a buffet style brunch and I was skeptical at first but I admit that it was one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. It’s also value for money: 17€ all you can eat! Tip: book a table next to the windows!

Cafes/Bars in Athens

This winter I (personally) discovered a small café in Voulis street that serves delicious hot chocolate! It goes by the simple name Σοκολατα (sokolata meaning chocolate) and I’m going to review it soon on the blog! Another hot beverage I like is tea and there’s a specialty place for that as well called Το Τσάι (To Tsai meaning Tea). To Tsai is an old favorite of mine which I visit frequently and buy loose leaf tea for my home brews.

Dessert wise, I (re)discovered B Madame and tasted their delicious cakes….now can spring come soon, so I can taste their ice cream as well??

Noel (the holiday bar) was the place to be during the Holidays, with extravagant Christmas decorations. I visited for hot chocolate and drinks but I’d like to try out their new menu! I also re visited Little Kook which went all out for Christmas.

After work I tend to prefer hot chocolate/tea over alcohol, but sometimes the occasion calls for a proper drink. I have a soft spot for cocktails; the fancier, the better. Last month I got to visit two new for me bars: Odori and The Clumsies, both located really close behind Klathmonos square. Odori has drinks and cocktails which revolve around Vermouth, while the Clumsies serves some intricate cocktails and is listed in the World’s Best 50 Bars for 2016.

P.S. Join me on Instagram for more day to day photos from Athens and my wereabouts!

Walks around Athens

Hadrian's Arch Athens

Weather was cold but I took a few walks around Athens, especially before the holidays. I love the lights at the new Electra Metropolis hotel and loved how Hadrian’s arch looks on a beautiful winter day!

Press Events

Swarovski Urban Romance press event

Swarovski presented its Spring/ Summer collection called “Urban Romance”. The collection is inspired by Paris’ romanticism and Los Angeles’ free spirit style.

Then in mid December I attended Activia’s re-launch event and learned all about their Live In Sync campaign. The campaign urges women to find an inner balance while juggling work, relationships, personal time and so forth. The best part of the event was life coach Sophia Klotsa who gave us tips on how to determine which parts of our live we need to “work” on in order to bring them in sync with the other parts.

MCM press event

Then just before Christmas I attended MCM’s event  for their Munich Epoque collection celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary and got an overview of their collection. The pictured crossbody bags (I think is the Patricia model) are very cute aren’t they?

Sooo, that sums up the activities I got up in my city during those winter months! Looking forward to spring so that I can walk around my city more!

Tell me what have you been up to this winter?
