Let’s get into festive mood today! I’m reviewing Lefkes restaurant in Galatsi (a northern suburb of Athens), which goes all out during the holiday season! Just a disclaimer: those photos are from last year as I visited Lefkes just after Christmas and posting holiday photos in January didn’t sound that appropriate. Long story short, these photos waited patiently for December to come again, so that I could finally write this post!
Lefkes restaurant is located in an old house, with a front yard with elm trees that actually gave the name to the restaurant. I’ve heard about this place so many times by my good friends C and T, especially about its unique Christmas decorations. Finally last year we got to visit with them!
Upon entering the yard you are greeted by Santa, his Reindeer and fairy lights. Then as you enter the restaurant, you come across even more Christmas decorations. All rooms feel warm and cozy, this was a house after all.
And now, let’s talk about the food: the menu is full of delicious appetizers, salads and main dishes. We started off with this leafy salad pictured above (I can’t find it in the menu so it must have been a seasonal one), shared an appetizer called Soufra tou Pasa (pork pieces marinated in a spicy sweet sauce cooked on the hot plate) and then moved on to our mains.
I got traditional pastry filled with chicken fillet , cheese, Prosciutto and mushrooms cooked on the hot plate (the dish was called Chicken Parnassou, pictured below), while my friend T got the Osso Bucco (pictured above). To be honest I can’t remember the rest of the dishes but they were all delicious and as you can see very filling! We ended tour meal with Karydopita (walnut cake). I can’t wait to visit the restaurant again this year!
If you are looking for a special restaurant to visit this holiday season (and throughout the year to be honest because the food is delicious) then do visit Lefkes!
Essential Information: Lefkes are located on 100 Galatsiou Ave, Galatsi Athens.
