street in the old city of Rethymno, Crete

During my vacations in Crete this summer, my fiance and I took a day trip to the coastal town of Rethymno which is the “capital” of the namesake region.

What I like the most in Rethymno are the narrow cobblestone streets that are part of the old city located just below the Venetian fortress of Fortezza. You’ll notice that most of my photos are shot in these streets and feature restaurants, flowers , doors  etc.

We also walked along the harbour, visited the Fortezza which provides a panoramic view of the city, enjoyed the architecture and couldn’t resist eating ice cream (it was change from the frozen yoghurt I tend to eat lately)!

If you do happen to visit Rethymno I definitely recommend dining at Avli restaurant, located on one of these picturesque streets!
